As a mom who runs a local business treating lice (The Dublin Hair Nanny), I want to let everyone know that there are local lice removal companies that sell sprays that they tell you to use in your car or home to “get rid of lice”. Before you shell out an additional $30-$40, (on top of the $200.00 you already paid), for completely unnecessary spray, please research this topic.
You might as well spray tap water on your couch and carpet, as it will have the exact same effect without the toxic chemicals!
The Center for Disease Control and American Academy of Pediatrics and practically every other health agency or entomologist who study lice all agree that spraying your house, car or carpet is 100% unnecessary and that you should be wary of any company trying to tell you otherwise.
Lice live in hair. NOT in your carpet. Household sprays or herculean cleaning efforts are totally unnecessary and does nothing to help eradicate the lice.
BTW, those same companies try to sell you shampoo or sprays with tea tree oil that they claim help prevent lice. This too has been researched in labs and is quackery. The entomologists determined you would have to soak your child’s head in tea tree oil to actually repel or kill lice.
If you think you or your family member might have lice, find a Lice Nannies USA location near you. We don’t take advantage of the ick and fear factor and push unnecessary products. www.thedublinhairnanny.org
